Bio

Coach Bennicke enters his second year as head coach of the Mounties badminton team. Originally from Truro, NS, he has many notable coaching and sport volunteer highlights, which include:

• Coached high school at CEC in Truro for 20 years
• Started the Truro Badminton Club in 2013, became the largest club in the province
• Board of Directors for Badminton NS from 2013 to 2022 as a Director at Large - Central
• Board of Directors for Badminton NS from 2022 to present as Director of Development
• Head Coach of Nova Scotia Indigenous Games Badminton that competed at the North American Indigenous Games 2017 and 2023
• Head Coach NSAC/DalAC Rams Badminton Team 2012/13 to 2019/20
• 4-time ACAA Badminton Coach of the Year  

Outside of sports, Richard is a big movie buff and enjoys going out to the movies.
