Mounties drop first game to Dragons
(SACKVILLE, NB) The Mount Allison Women's Volleyball team kicked off the home season with a back-and-forth affair against Université Sainte-Anne. The Dragons would go on to win in five sets (25-17, 23-25, 15-25, 25-21, 16-14). For the Mounties, it was their second regular season action away from their home gym this Fall as McCormack gymnasium continues to undergo renovations.
Leading the charge offensively for the Mounties was fourth-year middle Emilie Botma (Halifax, NS) who had nine kills on a very efficient .467 hitting percentage, five service aces, five solo blocks and four digs. Chloe Nichols (White Rock, NS) would add 11 kills of her own while setter Logan Tait (Saint John, NB) dished out 27 assists.
The Dragons were led by the duo of Mekayla Léger (Cap-pelé, NB) and rookie Amy Arsenault (Tracadie, NB) with stat lines of 11 kills, eight service aces and 15 digs, and 14 kills with 15 digs, respectively. Setter Jacqueline Bright (Bridgewater, NS) chipped in with 30 assists and seven digs.
Mount Allison (1-1) will travel to Halifax on November 4 to play MSVU, tip-off is at 7 p.m.
Sainte-Anne (2-0) for their part will play host to Holland on November 5 at 6 p.m.
