Women's Volleyball Mounties Welcome Mia Maloney
The Mount Allison University Women’s Volleyball team is proud to announce our latest committed athlete, Mia Maloney.
Mia is a 5’7 Setter from Millbrook First Nations Reserve in Nova Scotia. For the past 3 years Mia has been a member of the Cobequid Educational Center Volleyball Team. Mia and Ella were key contributors to CECs provincial banner win this season. She has also competed for Team NS and is a part of the VNS Provincial Excellence Program (PEP). She was selected to represent Nova Scotia for the 19u North American Indigenous Games team. Mia has played for the Cougars club team for the last few seasons and is taking this club season off to train for MTA with fellow teammate Ella Boudreau. Mia will add to the depth of the Mounties program.
“I am thrilled to have Mia join the Mounties program; she is a very talented setter with a high volleyball IQ. Mia is an elite setter who can run a great offence. She is a fantastic leader and is a gamer, when the whistle blows you know Mia is showing up to play. Mia has been a role model for many young indigenous athletes which is very important because representation matters. I’m very excited to see Mia grow as an individual and athlete in our program. It’s definitely a surreal feeling bringing in athletes who went to the same Jr High and Highschool that I attended. I’m very excited that Mia and Ella are training with Gille Boudreau all spring and they are still training with VNS. This is important for working on individual skills so they can make an impact right away at the next level. Mia will be an exceptional addition to the culture of the program here at Mount Allison University.” states Coach Crouse
