(SACKVILLE, NB) Mount Allison hosted the Aigles Bleues women's soccer team this evening in what was the first of two games on Mounties Homecoming weekend. After 90 minutes both teams would come away with a point as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The first chance of the game saw Moncton beat the Mounties keeper but unable to finish as Mount Allison's defenders cleared the ball off the line.
Most of the play in the first half remained in the middle of the pitch with both teams evenly sharing time of possession but unable to find the quality required to break the deadlock.
Mount Allison narrowly made it 1-0 in the 45th minute as the hard work by Talia Friesen (Halifax, NS) in the box and subsequent pass across to a teammate just missed the net.
Moments later the Aigles Bleues would work a corner kick to their favour as the ball was mishandled by the Mounties keeper and fell to Zoé Brockbank (Grand-Digue, NB) to make it 1-0 Moncton.
The Mounties would respond in the 58th minute with a wonder goal off a free-kick from Kathryn Perry (Riverview, NB) as she slotted the ball into the top left corner.
Moncton (0-5-3) will travel to Fredericton to play UNB on September 23 at 1:15 p.m.
Mount Allison (0-3-2) for their part will next play host to Memorial on September 24 at 12:15 p.m.
