(SACKVILLE, NB) After an emotional pre-game ceremony to commemorate the importance of September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation the teams were ready for their second meeting of the season.
Both teams struggled to find a rhythm in the first half, which resulted in very few offensive build ups. The game went to halftime with no one team determining play.
The start of the second half saw the Tigers come out hungry and get on the board as Zoe Brown (Halifax, NS) found the back of the net off a scramble play inside the Mounties box.
Much of the play from there on out was dictated by Dalhousie as they pressed often and kept Mount Allison on the back foot. Mounties keeper Sophie Austin (Kanata, ON) had to make multiple saves as she sprawled out at the 68th minute to keep it at 1-0.
The Mounties attempted one final push after bringing on Talia Friesen (Halifax, NS) late but the Tigers kept the backline tight and will leave Sackville with three points and the clean sheet.
Dalhousie (3-0-2) will host Acadia on October 2 at 1 p.m.
Mount Allison (0-4-1) for their part will travel to Fredericton to take on the Reds on October 6 at 5 p.m.
