The Mount Allison Mounties women's soccer season came to an end on a high note last friday night as the hometown Mounties handed the Acadia Axewomen their first loss of the season. The Mounties got goals from Amanda Volcko, Jane Rouse and Emily van Diepen en route to a 3-0 shutout of Acadia.
With the win, the Mounties finish the season in 8th place with 3 wins, 6 losses and 4 ties, just 4 points out of the final playoff spot in the AUS. With her goal on Friday, Volcko finished the season with 5 goals to lead the team and to finish tied for 9th in league scoring.
At the conclusion of the game the Mounties honoured graduating seniors Frances McCurdy, Nicole Jollymore and Emily van Diepen. With only 3 graduating players, the Mounties look ahead with anticipation to the 2015 seaosn.
The men's soccer Mounties finished their season with a 2-0 loss at home to Acadia. The Mounties finished tied for 8th place with 3 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie for 10 points. Priori to the game, the Mounties honoured graduating players Greg McGuire, Aaron Gagnon and Jung-Jae Na. With a very young team the Mounties are optomistic about what lies ahead for the program.
