Three Goal Second Period Pushes Moncton Past Mount Allison

(Sackville, NB) The Moncton Aigles Bleues were in Sackville Friday night taking on the Mount Allison Mounties in AUS Women's hockey action.

The first period got off to a slow start with neither team getting any dangerous chances early. Moncton found the back of the net mid-way through the frame on a goal that was eventually disallowed. It looked like the period was going to end scoreless before Shani Rossignol found the back of the net for Moncton on a power play goal to make the score 1-0 after one period.

The Mounties pulled even in the second period on a two on one tally from Dallis Mackenzie. The visitors stormed back with three straight goals from Emily Gravelle, Elodie St-Jacques on the power play, and Laura Tremblay on the power play making the score 4-1 after two frames.

The third period opened with chances for both teams including a pair of posts at both ends. Mount Allison found themselves in the penalty box for three straight minors, leading to Moncton's Valerie Hache scoring a fifth and final goal on the power play for the visitors. The final score was 5-1 for the Aigles Bleues.

Moncton (12-6-3) returns to the ice on Sunday, January 26^th to take on St. Thomas on the road, puck drop is set for 3:00pm. Mount Allison (1-20) is back in action Saturday, January 25^th in Halifax against Dalhousie, puck drop is at 7:00pm.
