(SACKVILLE, NB) In the second meeting between these two teams in as many weeks, it was the Aigles Bleues that came out on top once again this time with a final score of 6-1.
Everything was clicking for Moncton tonight as they peppered the Mount Allison goalie with 49 shots. The Aigles Bleues would also go three-for-six on the powerplay for an efficient 50% with the player advantage.
The game's first goal came courtesy of Moncton's Erica Plourde (Pigeon-Hill, NB) as the crafty winger came out of the corner and beat Bianca Zak (Stonewall, MB) with a low shot. Plourde would add two more goals and go on to be named the Subway Player of the Game.
The start of the second period saw much of the same as the Aigles Bleues strung together three goals in less than a ten-minute span to make it 4-0. Led by a three-point effort by Alexia Desforges (Clarence-Rockland, ON) the Aigles Bleues looked poised to continue to add to their lead.
The Mounties would get one back off the stick of first-year forward Dallis Mackenzie (Trenton, ON) as she pounced on a rebound.
Moncton would take advantage of Mount Allison's several trips to the penalty box in the third period to score two more goals and seal their second win of the 2022-23 season.
Mount Allison (1-11-0-0) will look to regroup as they take on Saint Mary's on November 18, puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
Moncton (2-10-0-0) for their part will next play host to UPEI on November 19 at 2 p.m.
