The Mount Allison Mounties went down to the wire with the visiting UKC Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon before pulling out a 54-53 win in front of a delighted home crowd. Third year guard Sophie Trail hit a clutch 3 pointer with less than a minute remaining to give the Mounties the win as they move to 2-2 on the season.
The Mounties, playing back to back games after a Saturday road trip to MSVU, grabbed a 13-11 lead after the first quarter and had built a 38-34 lead to start the 4th quarter. Kings pushed hard in the 4th quarter to erase the deficit but in the end the Mounties were able to shut the door and pick up the win.
Abbie Miller led all scorers with 20 points for the Mounties as she went 10 of 20 from the field. Miller also picked up 12 rebounds to help the Mounties to victory.
Jenna Bain led the Blue devils with 17 points.
