The Mount Allison women's basketball Mounties kicked off the home season with a 61-50 win over Crandall on Friday night. For the Mounties, it was the first regular season action in the McCormack gymnasium since February of 2020.
The Mounties got off to an early start, taking a 12-5 lead by the end of the 1st quarter and a 30-13 lead into the locker room at halftime. Crandall was able to cut into the lead some late in the game but the Mounties were able to steer things home for the win.
Third year guard Sophie Trail led the Mounties with 16 points in 32 minutes. Trail was 5 for 9 from the field, including 4 of 7 from behind the 3 point line. Maddie Greatorex had 14 points for the Mounties on 6 of 11 shooting. Greatorex also led the Mounties with 6 rebounds.
Megan Gallie led all Crandall scorers with 14 points as she went 5 of 12 from the field.
The Mounties return to action on Saturday, November 13th when they travel to Mount Saint Vincent before hosting King's at home on Sunday.
