(SACKVILLE, NB) Mount Allison played host to Acadia for what was the regular season finale for both teams. Acadia would go on to win 3-0.
After some uneventful back and forth to start the game, it was Acadia that got on the board first in the 30th minute after a shot from Liam Kelly (Abbotsford, NS) hit the post, went off the Mounties keeper's back and in the back of the net.
Unforced errors would continue to hurt the Mounties as a wayward pass fell right to the foot of Michael Johann Osorio (Coquitlam, BC) and he made no mistake to put his side up 2-0 heading into the second half.
The Axemen almost made it three goals when Kelly was sent in all alone but Matt Kiropoulos (Brandon, MB) would come up with a big save to stop the threat.
The Mounties thought to have gotten one back moments later when a Jack Bennett (Falmouth, NS) effort went off the crossbar and seemed to have crossed the goal line but it was ruled to have hit the football uprights.
Subway Player of the Game Adrian Deveau (Dartmouth, NS) made it 3-0 for the visiting Axemen as his soaring header off a corner found the back of the net.
Acadia goalkeeper Dylan Legere (Upper Tantallon, NS) would have to make one final save on the Mounties midfielder Bennett and preserved the clean sheet.
Mount Allison (1-9-2) finishes the 2022 season with many positives. First-year coach Derek O'Keeffe is looking forward to some fruitful recruiting efforts for the 2023 season.
Acadia (1-8-3) notched its first win of the season and currently sit in eighth position.
