(SACKVILLE, NB) During the second game of the doubleheader between Mount Allison and Mount Saint Vincent it was the Mystics that pulled away late to win by a score of 80-69. MSVU would capitalize on their points off a turnover (22 to six points) and shoot 80% from the charity stripe.
Top performers for the Mounties were fifth-year Fredericton guards Minwoo Park and Noah McCarthy who would each contribute 16 points in the loss. Centre Tim Ellison (Halifax, NS) chipped in with eight points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Leading the way for the Mystics was Jaxon Smith (Beechville, NS) who went off for 27 points – in large part thanks to a very efficient 5-for-11 from the three-point line. Tario Sands (Eleuthera, Bahamas) would also give his team some quality minutes as he added 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
Mount Allison (5-5) will travel to Fredericton to take on the Tommies on February 3 at 8 p.m.
MSVU (8-3) for their part travel to Moncton on February 3 to take on Crandall at 8 p.m.
